Electric Wheelchair

I need to get my hands on an electric wheelchair or powerchair by next Thursday. I have a budget of around £500 but can’t find any locally.

Do you know who might be able to help? The Red Cross? Salvation Army?

I had a stroke an need a mobility scooter to get out of the house. My only insurance is Medicaid an it will not cover it. I want to sit up a website to ask for donations to purchase one. I have limited computer knowledge thus I need advise on the cheapest, easiest way to set up the site and accept donations online from credit cards. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

There’s a woman where I work who can barely use her left arm. I assumed she was paralyzed, but today I saw her move her legs a little. What kind of disease do you think she has?
Her arms and legs look very thin.

I have a handicapped brother who is in a wheelchair and needs a van with an air conditioner unit that works and that already has an electric ramp on it as my brother doesn’t walk, and is 29 years old. The van my parents had was old and the air conditioner didn’t work. Please if anybody knows of a van or car lot that sells these vans let me know asap. Thank you sooooo much! Anywhere in Fresno or Hanford Ca. would be fine.

I have a senior citizen friend on a VERY low fixed income who does not get around very well, she has an electric wheelchair but the batteries are totally shot. She CANNOT afford to buy them. Does anyone know of any agency out there that will help her free of cost? PS: She lives in Santa Rosa, California.

I am elderly but not disabled and have to walk long distances. I wonder if it takes less energy to hand propel a wheelchair than walking. I could use a folding chair which would be no problem on public transport. Also the chair should make carrying shopping more easy. An electric scooter is not practical on public transport.

I have herniated discs in my back but I can walk a few minutes with a cane before the pain sets in. I like to attend MLB games but dread the thought of walking.

A few years ago, a teacher/staff told me about a college student who built his own electric/gas hybrid wheelchair. This chair ran off propane gas and would charge the electric battery as it ran. Does anyone know of such a chair that exists? If so, can you please list a website as I need to buy a new wheelchair soon. Thanks.

It basically affects me from the waist down and only been in the wheelchair for last couple of years before that it was crutches.

Firstly let me just say that I pity their users plight, but unfortunately a minority of users use them as a battle tank.
I have twice this week been struck by an electric wheelchair.
The 1st was in a pedestrian precinct where the 20+ stone user was travelling at a ridiculous speed. I have looked up the type, and it is capable of 8mph. If I were to drive my car at 8mph in a pedestrian area and injure somebody then there would be all hell to pay.
The 2nd time was somewhat lighter but still bloody hurt. In both cases I had my 2 year old with me who could have been very seriously injured. Neither apologised by the way, just gave me a very disdainful look as if they have permanent right of way.

Now, the wheel chair is there as the occupant has difficulty in walking. Most of us walk at about 2mph so why do these things need to go faster? Are they a car? or are they a means of getting around at walking pace?

They drive on the road holding up traffic until they get to traffic signals, when they then mount the footpath to by-pass them.

My personal opinion is that unless they are registered as a car, and obey all of the same rules as a car, then they should have a maximum speed of walking pace. i.e. 2mph.

I might go on a cruise next summer/fall and I will need an electric wheelchair/scooter. I know that a lot of cruise lines are accommodating, but will it be a waste of my money and time? I am able to walk with a walker for a short while (3-5 minutes), so I know a lot of on shore excursions may be out. Are the electric walker/scooter easy to rent for the trip? I don’t have one.

what should i do? I was washing my wheelchair and i accidentally spilled some water on the joy stick control and now when i turn it on it just flashes and makes a noise, it also wont move at all even when connected to the charger. PLZ someone HELP

It’s a heavy duty orange cable. I am worried about the end of the cable being exposed to rain and snow. What can I do to protect the end of the cable?

I have an Invacare Storm TDX3 electric wheelchair but the batteries are dead. I don’t want to pay 0+ for new ones, is there any chance to use a portable jump starter for cars to try and start them up?

I have a sunrise medical FX 50 (I think) anyway it is a solid old electric wheelchair it has a battery that weighs 10 kg (car battery type) chair weighs 20 kg. I want to go to Bologna (Italy) for my friends wedding I live about 10 miles from Gatwick airport in the UK. Does anyone have any suggestions or knowledge.Thank you very much.

my grandmother has passed away two days ago and we are all trying to go through her house and decide what to do with items. she has a ,000 electric wheelchair and we are not sure what we are supposed to do. this is all very new to us. we do not have a number for the company. do we donate or return it? does anyone know or been through this?
